Multi-Media
As a lifelong artist I have engaged in a variety of projects that employ my skills and often push my limits. Here are a selection of those projects over the years.
SELECTED INSTALLATIONS
GIANT STEPS
Installation for hypothetical artist in residency on the Moon.
This commercial installation called “Broadcast” occupies the lobby of a residential complex in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. I assisted in creating various elements including the segmented televisions on the ceiling and walls and well as selected vacuum form designs and painting.
SELECTED MURALS
A three story mural featuring a Japanese Art-Deco plumb tree in a private Seattle residence.
A triptych for the Lighthouse Roasters located in Seattle and created in 2020 during pandemic times.
The OK Hotel bar mural represents a historic moment in Seattle’s music history. It illustrated the influence of the OK Hotel (1988-2001) and includes portraits of those responsible for creating the “Grunge” era venue.
In 2015 I was included with a crew to restore the Astoria Column in Astoria Or. This 140 foot column was enclosed by a 13 story scaffold on which artists spent the summer restoring the original artwork created in the 1920’s.
PUBLIC ART
Millstone Coffee contracted local Seattle artists to construct public art adverts of their new products. These five foot coffee mugs where painted and placed around the city for the summer of 2000. Incidentally I won the “People’s Choice Award” for this mug.
Pigs on Parade was a public art exhibit that benefited Seattle’s PikePlace Market in 1998. A cast fiberglass form was created of “Rachel the Pig” a tourist icon of the market. Approximately 30 artists painted original works of art on the 3D form and were auctioned to supported of the historic market place.
