I met Heidi in 1985. She was the roommate of a friend of mine from high
school and had only recently moved to Atlanta. We hit it off right away.
We spent the next three years joined at the hip and indulging our whims
without any limits. In fact, it took me 5 1/2 years to get through college
because of our friendship. I think it took her 8 years! LOL! We had so
much fun going to shows, parties, bars and generally hanging out and doing
whatever we wanted. I can remember Heidi talking me out of going to class
and instead driving around in her VW Cabriolet singing Judas Priest at the
top of our lungs and plotting our next adventure. Boy, did she love that
car. When she first got it, we would look for things to throw. We would
drive around for hours throwing things out of her car. I know it sounds
weird, but it was really entertaining. There was a bar that was on
Peachtree Street that had an enclosed brick patio. We would throw Black Cat
firecrackers into the patio and laugh hysterically as everyone scattered.
Circus peanuts were another favorite. And dill pickles. She finally moved
away and we both did some growing up. But we kept in touch up until a year
or so before her death. I really miss her so much. The days we had
together were some of the best of my life.
